On December 3, 2025, the Student Career Development Association (SCDA) of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School led a student delegation—comprising students from HSBC Business School, the School of Transnational Law, the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and other departments—to visit Tencent Seafront Towers for an immersion and exchange program. Led by faculty advisor Chen Yilin, participating students gained deeper insights into Tencent’s business layout and corporate philosophy, broadening their industry perspectives and expanding their professional horizons.
Warmly welcomed and guided by Tencent staff, faculty and students stepped into the Tencent Exhibition Hall. Built on a sleek, modern architectural aesthetic, the exhibition space pairs fluid lines with futuristic lighting to instantly immerse visitors in a dynamic digital world. Serving as more than just a stage for Tencent's latest technological achievements, the hall acts as a bridge connecting industry frontiers with daily life, and corporate heritage with future vision, allowing visitors to experience the seamless integration of technology and humanism.
At the core of the exhibition hall, a series of themed display walls captured the delegation's attention. Combining graphics, physical models, and interactive demonstrations, the displays comprehensively presented Tencent’s breakthroughs across key domains including artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing. From precision intelligent algorithms to high-capacity cloud infrastructure and industry-enabling digital solutions, each technological milestone reflected the dedicated research of Tencent's R&D teams, highlighting the innovative drive and social responsibility of China's leading internet enterprises.
In the interactive experience zone, visitors engaged directly with cutting-edge technologies. Donning virtual reality headsets, students stepped into digitally constructed environments for an immersive spatial experience.
During the tour, the delegation gathered at the Starlight Theater to watch a documentary tracing Tencent’s development history. The short film condensed decades of transformation and growth—from its origins in early instant messaging products to its current ecosystem spanning social networking, entertainment, fintech, and tech services. The video clearly illustrated Tencent's unwavering spirit of innovation and its core values centered on "User Value First." Staff members further elaborated on Tencent's strategic business layout, corporate culture, and initiatives in public welfare and digital education, providing students with a well-rounded understanding of the tech giant's global footprint and social commitments.
Following the tour, the delegation transitioned to the conference area for a dedicated career development symposium. Lin Shiyang, Tencent Campus Recruitment Specialist, delivered a keynote address outlining the company’s talent strategy of "Valuing Talent and Empowering Growth." She provided a comprehensive roadmap covering campus recruitment roles, selection criteria, mentorship programs for new hires, cross-departmental rotation opportunities, and mid-to-long-term career advancement pathways.
The symposium featured an engaging Q&A session in a warm and dynamic atmosphere. Students raised questions regarding campus recruitment interview techniques, skill requirements for technical roles, and career development trajectories for non-technical positions. Participants expressed that the direct dialogue provided greater clarity regarding Tencent's expectations and helped refine their own career planning goals.
The visit to Tencent's global headquarters concluded successfully. Through this exchange, students gained firsthand insight into Tencent's corporate culture, innovation philosophy, and industry trends, while establishing a clearer understanding of future career pathways and the core competencies required in the digital economy.
